How will you sleep tonight?

You have been living with one question
for such a long time
fitting the same fears again and again
in these few rhymes
but the vastness of this question
stands right against your face
there is nothing much you can do
but fake
you tell them you are fine
even though you don’t see an answer in sight
burdened by the expectations of tomorrow
how will you sleep tonight?

Surrender to your dreams tonight

When you aim high
your failure is bound to be as big
what matters
is what you do with it
as long as there is fight left in you
keep trying
even if you can’t see your goal
continue flying
sometimes you will feel tired
and worn out
crippled by fear
and doubt
surrender to your dreams
turn off the light
your dreams will let you survive
another day.

Beyond failure

I still remember the pride you took in your dreams
and that smile you had on your face
now you are robbed of all that pride
of that smile, there is no trace
a tsunami of failure has evaded your land
there seems no way out
you are drowning in the ashes of your goals
no cries, no shouts
will be heard.

Once it has passed
take hold of what is still left
create meaning
out of this mess
piece by piece
build the fortress
of your dreams
yet again.

Nationalism?

I turned off the engine at the red light
something I always do on my way to school
I have been teaching children about how to save environment
explaining to them why it is necessary to be responsible than cool.
I believe in doing the right thing
I pay my taxes on time
I have never dropped a penny inside a temple
for me serving the society is divine.
However, that day something strange happened
Tired from the daily chores, I went to the cinema hall
Exhausted, I slept
while everyone else stood tall.
They sang in unison
when the national anthem played
I slept
tired from the duties I fulfilled that day.
They threw me out
the next day newspapers were full of criticism
nobody talked about the good things I did that day
but questioned my spirit of nationalism.

Spending life with him

Ever since he has entered the heart
Life hasn’t been the same
There are so many memories we have created together
Some written under sun, some drenched in rain
It hasn’t been a completely smooth ride
We have had our ups and downs
Our love grew through the thick and thin
And seeped into us, becoming an emotion so profound
There is an endless river of love that flows from the heart
A flow that is unstoppable
When you know you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody
You want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.

Give me the privilege of fearlessly loving you

I know you don’t entirely belong to me
and I wouldn’t want to tie you down with love
but dear o dear
believe me, trust
that I can hold your world intact
and keep that smile on your face forever
I will hold you close to my heart
and never
leave your side.

Dear o dear
give me the privilege of fearlessly loving you
we need labels
so there is only one place we can call home
not two.

It is not your day yet

Whether you were waiting for that glory
or for that one moment that will sweep you off your feet
it hasn’t yet arrived.

Have you wondered if you will be fine
if it never comes
have you wondered if what you want
never happens.

While you have waited for a while
that moment has just not arrived
you have worked hard
I can see the sweat
But dear o dear
It is not your day
not yet.

Light

Child, do not feel so broken
there is both light and dark inside of us
and while the world is torn by war and hatred
make sure your light shines through.

They will try to evade your light with darkness
and keep on telling that you are a failure
remember only one thing then
gather all your light
and make sure it shines through
even if you are consumed by darkness one day
you wouldn’t have gone without a fight
their dark will not evade the light
that is left in you
even if it is a small flicker
do not let it die
your light should be greater than their darkness combined.
